A travel company have been accused of cheating eight persons, who had spent huge amount to go for Umrah to Saudi Arabia. According to a complaint filed by Hussainmiya Arab at Karanj police station of Ahmedabad city, Hussainmiya Shaikh, Rafikbhai, Faisal Rafiqbhai and Anas, total four person of Al Murtuza Tours & Travels had cheated them to promising to send them to Jeddah for Umrah.
Arab, who is a businessman at Danilimda area meet to Hussainmiya Shaikh owner of Al Murtuza, in March who promised to send him and his family for Umrah. In subsequent meeting, Arab told him that he wanted to go for Umrah with his family and relatives. A deal was fixed for Rs 35,000 for an adult and Rs 20,000 for a child. Arab gave Rs 2.65 lakh to Shaikh for visa and tickets for eight persons, including two minors. They were told to get ready for travel in a week.Meanwhile, Arab organised a grand function for relatives and well-wishers before leaving for pilgrimage. However, this was not to be. Thrice he had to return from Shaikh’s without tickets. Finally, on May 18, he was granted 7 tickets, with the promise that he would get his ticket at the airport.
With hope, Arab along with his relatives reached the airport. However, till the last minute, he couldn’t get his ticket, so couldn’t board the flight. While his mother, too, had to return as a woman has to be accompanied by her husband, brother or son in Saudi Arabia. Since Arab could not accompany her, she too had to return. The others flew in to Sharjah. All along, his 11-year-old son, Mohammed Ayaz, had the idea that his father and grand mom were coming on the next flight in Sharjah. But when they did not come, he started wailing. Another relative Mohammed Ismail Pathan had to accompany him back to Ahmedabad. They felt that all they had cheated by travel agent.
